Pakistan's PM Touts Military Victory Over India in London Address

22-09-2025

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed overseas Pakistanis in London, congratulating them on what he described as a "great victory" against India on May 10. The prime minister characterized the conflict as a triumph that would be remembered by what he termed the "enemy" forever, emphasizing that it served as a lesson to India.

Recalling the events leading to the confrontation, Sharif stated that India had leveled baseless allegations regarding the Pahalgam incident. He noted that during his visit to Kakul, he had offered an international probe to address these claims in a fair and transparent manner, but India did not respond to his proposal. The prime minister asserted that on May 6, Indian forces launched aggression against innocent civilians and civilian assets inside Pakistan, resulting in casualties.

Sharif detailed that Pakistan, exercising what he called its right of defense, shot down six Indian fighter jets "in one go," which he said exposed India's vulnerabilities. He recounted that on May 10, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir phoned him with confidence, seeking permission to respond to India's repeated attacks. The prime minister granted approval, leading to what he described as a swift and effective military response.

The prime minister attributed Pakistan's success to two key factors: the valour, professionalism, and advanced training of the armed forces, coupled with their trust in Allah, and the display of total unity between the country's political and military leadership. He praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for leading the fight and commended the Pakistan Air Force under Air Chief Baber Sidhu's command for setting what he called an unmatched precedent. Sharif emphasized that 240 million citizens stood united with their armed forces during the conflict.
