Shots Fired at Downpatrick Residence in Early Morning Attack

Police in County Down are investigating an early morning shooting incident at a residential property in Downpatrick where shots were fired while occupants were inside the home. The attack occurred in the Lisnamual Close area shortly after 12:20am on Thursday, October 2, 2025, according to statements released by the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Detectives confirmed that two shots were fired at the property, resulting in damage to the front window and a wall inside the house. Despite the property being occupied at the time of the incident, police reported that no injuries were sustained by any of the residents. The PSNI statement emphasized that the occupants were "thankfully not injured" during the attack.

Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the motive behind the shooting and are appealing to the public for assistance. Detectives are particularly interested in any footage captured in the area that could aid their investigation. Police have asked anyone with information to contact Ardmore station directly at 101, referencing incident number 13 02/10/25.

In addition to direct police contact, investigators have provided alternative reporting methods including online submission through the PSNI website and anonymous reporting via the Crimestoppers charity. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the targeted attack on the residential property.
